Comment: Don't be fooled by someone giving a cheaper 'Proposal' because they low ball you to get the job and then charge you more money. Also, look at the shingle they're putting on, cheap shingles might save you some money, but a better shingle isn't much more. I do electrical and construction work, so I know a lot of these guys, but I don't do roofs. The average roof, in Kankakee is about $14k - $20k, I did use Larry whenever I needed a roof in the past, but he's doing roofs now for the Lord. I called around and got some estimates and one was about $3k less than the average. Then I stumbled into these guys at the Legion; someone said they worked with Larry years ago. I talked with Troy, asked for an estimate and he hit the numbers right where I was estimating. I hired them and no regrets. I'd like to think my friend Larry was smiling down on me and made it all happen.

Comment: What I liked was they wouldn't just ******(redacted) rig it like I asked them to. Troy flat out told me that they don't do that type of work. He said there's a lot of guys out there that will take your money, but they're not going to be around or warrant it etc. I was just trying to save money is all. However, as cost keep going up, I'm sure it won't be any cheaper next year. I was surprised by the number of roofs Troy told me he walks away from because they don't do half-a** (redacted) work. I know one in particular they walked away from, and I see they have *** Roofing (redacted) doing it. It just makes you wonder is all. If I'm going to pay someone then I want the best, if you have cancer wouldn't you want the best surgeon? and not someone that is cheap and just takes your money? Comment: I hired ******* (redacted) and after 6 months I noticed mold and water leaking. I called these guys, and they were able to fix the leak. However, they told me the prior contractor did not install things correctly. Now I can't afford to have it fixed because I basically wasted all my money on those other clowns. Troy told me his patch won't last as the whole job wasn't properly done. I guess I'll just wait and see if I can make it by this year and have them redo it next year.

Comment: I had a couple contractors look at my roof and Troy impressed me the most. Also, the other contractor asked me to pull the roofing permit. I didn't know any better, but I went with these guys because they got back to me and followed up. They were a little more, but when I asked Troy if he wanted me to pull the permit. He said, what a silly question to ask. When I told him the other contractor said I had to pull the permit because it's my house; he said that's because the other contractor was NOT licensed (red flag). He told me licensed and bonded roofers pull the permit, and if anyone ever wants you to pull the permit then they're 'shady' and not licensed or bonded. Thank God I dodged that bullet.

Comment: These guys were great, I just wish they were cheaper. I called around and got 3 estimates and they were more than one and less than another, so I picked them. **Update** Afterwards, I was glad because the cheaper company did my neighbor's house, and their roof is leaking, and they don't return calls. Thank goodness I went with Virgina's because they are bonded and insured and certified roofers.

Comment: We wanted a deck out back and just didn't have time to do it. I called and spoke with Troy and got a price. It was reasonable and we hired them. No issues, I just wish I had made it a little bigger.

Comment: Wanted some things cleaned up and a shed tore down. I'm getting too old to do this stuff. Not a big job, but they came over and took care of it. While they were here, I had a flat tire on my car. Steve took it off and took it to have it patched for me. He didn't even charge me, I just had to reimburse him for what the tire place charged to fix it. So, I bought him and his worker 'Doug' a pizza for lunch. A nice bunch of guys and reasonable. The owner stopped by and scolded me for feeding the help, he said they'd get spoiled and would now want lunch every day. He was joking of course, but he and my cousin hit it off as they talked about their Army days and what the Cubs will be doing this year.
